As both a UX/UI and Digital Marketing lecturer I can easily draw parallels between these subjects. It’s all about the user. I always tell my students that you don’t need a lot of money to be successful online. If you have a clear picture of who your audience is and how your brand can address their need you can grow exponentially.
One of the first assignment I give them is to define the Value Proposition Canvas of a brand. This design-based challenge will help them build a solid digital marketing and social media strategy. By identifying the pains and the gains of the users they will know exactly how to send the right message and address the users needs and emotions. For Social Media in particular this will help them becoming experts in storytelling.
This skill is vital for them as most of the junior positions they will apply for involve a lot of content writing.
