The Delegation of the European Union to the United States represents the European Union in the United States. It is working in coordination with the diplomatic and consular missions of all the EU Member States.

The purpose of the trade mission website is to highlight the importance of European investments and trade in the United States.

The main challenge of the website is to find a way to visualize and interact with complex data gathered by all EU states members. The website needs to be easy to update for all 51 states of the US.

Outcomes of the project

The Delegation of the European Union to the United States website received praise from its members. One of the most important challenge for me when I have to work on complex projects is to simplify the back-end so that my clients can have full ownership of the website.

The map of each state was created as an SVG file then uploaded on a custom plugin. This allows the client to drag and drop the pin on the map and place the required information.

Another challenge was that the main USA interactive map would become to small on mobile phones to navigate. I decided to create a special page for handheld devices with anchor points in order to scroll directly to the desired state.

For the infograph elements, I provided the client with more than hundred types of icons of each color so that replacing the data wouldn’t take much time.
